How to Calm Your Dogs Fears Of Visiting The Vet
Having a fear of the dentist or hospital is a common fear of many people, so it should be no surprise to us that some dogs can have a case of the scaries about visiting the *whispers* V E T.
Visiting the vet can be a stressful experience for both you and your pup and it can be made harder if your fur baby is really not a fan. It’s important to make sure your pet is comfortable and relaxed. Luckily there are lots of little things that you can do as a doggy parent to help your pup through the appointment before, during and after. Here are some tips for calming your dog’s fears of the vet.
Prepare your dog ahead of time.
Before your vet appointment, work to build positive associations with the vet and the vet’s office. Take your dog for a walk around the office or practice going inside the building with treats and positive reinforcement. It helps if you choose a vet with a great tableside manner also. Someone kind, patient and understanding.
